Grand Ole Opry Member, Joe Diffe dies due to complications from Covid-19 on March 29th 2020

I am saddened to hear of yesterday’s passing of singer/songwriter, Grand Ole Opry member and all around good guy, Joe Diffie and thought I would take a moment to share a memory of him here.

In the Summer of 1996, as Field Marketing Manager for the Crown Royal County Music Series, I worked on tour with Joe Diffie for about 35 shows, along with my good friends/tour mates, Nate Helyer and Gianni Shipman.

Joe, his band, and his crew were some of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Part of our gig was running meet & greets with the sponsor reps, VIPs, etc and no matter what came up, Joe was always easy going and willing to accommodate.

On the last night of the tour, Joe said, “Hey you guys have been taking pictures of me and everybody else this whole time, let’s get one of us!” This is the result.

I’m also the proud owner of this one of a kind, Epiphone Crown Royal acoustic guitar made for that project, used regularly on stage by Joe and others on the tour that year. It still hangs on the wall in my office.

Rest In Peace, Pick Up Man.
