Country Music legend, Charlie Daniels has passed away on July 6 2020

I am saddened to learn that we lost another one of the great ones today. Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Hall of Famer, Opry Member, and Country Music Legend, Charlie Daniels has passed away at age 83.

I’ll never forget this date as this legend who is famous for mega hits like, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” and “Uneasy Rider” has left the Earth on my 49th Birthday. I’ll never forget playing his songs on my old tape recorder as a kid, trying to memorize the lyrics, and always turning down the volume so my Mom wouldn’t hear what come after, “Johnny said Devil, just come on back if you ever want to try again, I done told you once, you…..”

The first time I met Charlie Daniels was when I was interning at WSIX-FM in Nashville during the Summer of 1993. A few years later I was fortunate to work about 65 shows on a tour that featured Charlie along with Hank Williams Jr, Travis Tritt, and JoDee Messina. His set was always amazingly tight and he was genuinely a pleasure to be around. His name is synonymous with outlaw country and his influence will be forever felt.

RIP Uneasy Rider
